Society of Young Inklings

Poetry Club: Poetry & Spoken Word

with Ari Tison

Dates: Monday-Thursday 8/8/22-8/11/22
Time: 1 - 3 pm (PT) // 4 - 6 (ET)
Ages: 9-14

In this online summer camp, we’ll explore how we can find poetry in everything! From our favorite movies, to our favorite art, to even a few minutes with just our thoughts. We’ll learn some bold and fun techniques like repetition, rhythm, and sound. We’ll even learn how to write for an audience and talk about how we can look at poetry like a gift we can share with others. And we’ll work together on building our confidence in reading aloud and performing our poetry, and on the final day, we’ll celebrate with a real reading!

Stone Soup and Society of Young Inklings are both nonprofit organizations, and part of our collaborative mission is to celebrate the full, vibrant diversity of youth writers' voices and stories.
